It was sometime in June that I realized the 2023 season was shaping up to be something special. Shohei Ohtani was dominating at the plate and on the mound -- perhaps on his way to the most awe-inspiring individual season of all time, even better than his previous two awe-inspiring seasons. Ronald Acuna Jr. was hitting for average, hitting for power and running wild on the bases. Luis Arraez was chasing .400. The Atlanta Braves were on their way to record-setting power numbers. The Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers -- who all had losing records in 2022 -- were sitting in first place in their respective divisions.

Today, Apple TV+ unveiled the first teaser for “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and shared that the highly anticipated 10-episode series will premiere globally on Friday, November 17. Based on Legendary’s Monsterverse, and starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski, "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” will debut with the first two episodes, followed by one episode every Friday through January 12.
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. *(reference.)
Crunchyroll announces the acquisition of “Kaiju No. 8” at NYCC 2023!
At New York Comic Con today, Crunchyroll unleashed a monstrous acquisition announcement confirming Kaiju No. 8 would be coming to its streaming service in Spring 2024, subtitled and dubbed, exclusively in more than 200 countries and territories, simulcast weekly after its broadcast in Japan.
The highly anticipated anime series is centered around a group of characters living in a world where giant monsters (or kaiju) attack humanity and the creatures’ destructive aftermath. Kaiju is a Japanese term that is commonly associated with television, movies, and books involving giant monsters (usually depicted attacking major cities and battling the military or other monsters), which has been a science fiction mainstay in the media for decades. *(reference.)
Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” coming to theaters in 2024!
While many figured the MonsterVerse might have been done after Godzilla: King of the Monsters disappointed at the box office, Godzilla vs. Kong rejuvenated the franchise and was a smash hit. This was even more impressive, considering it was released in March 2021 when the COVID-19 pandemic still had many theaters shut down.
Audiences turned out to see the two legendary titans fight on-screen, and Warner Bros. began work on a sequel. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is set for release in 2024 (the same year Godzilla vs. Kong takes place) and will mark the ten-year anniversary of when Godzilla was released and kicked off the MonsterVerse franchise.
