Where does the name 24702 come from?
In commerce and industry, 247 or 24/7 or 24-7 service (normally pronounced "twenty-four seven") is service that is available anytime, everyday. *(reference.)
702 is an area code for Nevada. It was one of the first area codes created in 1947. It covers the Clark County portion of Nevada, which of course includes the city of Las Vegas. *(reference.)
And the use of five digits is a play on the ZIP Code — a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service, introduced on July 1, 1963, whose basic format consisted of five digits. *(reference.)
Is now the right time for 24702?
Just ask the Raiders, Sphere, Formula 1, Goldens Knights, and Super Bowl LVIII!
How the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas has dramatically shifted their financial outlook!
In Las Vegas, the Raiders were welcomed by the $1.9 billion Allegiant Stadium, constructed with the help of a record-setting $750 million public subsidy. As they moved into an unexplored market for the league, it was easy to see how Davis could envision a path to serious profitability.
According to Forbes, the franchise was recently valued at $6.2 billion, sixth-most in the NFL, and had generated $729 million in annual revenue (second among NFL franchises behind only the Dallas Cowboys). This season, the Raiders are set to spend a franchise-record $244.6 million (15th in the NFL) in total cash payroll spending according to Spotrac. Since moving to Las Vegas, the valuation of the franchise has more than doubled. *(reference.)
Sphere in Las Vegas redefines live music and moviegoing experiences!
The Sphere is open — and it’s been the talk of the planet.
On July 4, the world’s biggest spherical building turned on its exterior LED screen and rock band U2 christened the venue on Sept. 29.
Since then, it’s become the must-see, must-attend attraction in Las Vegas, and the high prices for U2 tickets bear that out.
The real money will be the advertising [on] this exosphere that we've all been taking pictures of and video of since July 4, and it is going to be a money-churning machine once companies and entities say, we want to be visible not only everywhere in the center of the city, but to the people flying in and flying out of [Harry Reid Airport]. *(reference.)
At Formula 1 Las Vegas, Celebrity Chefs Will Feed You for $11,000!
For three days in November, Las Vegas will be the center of the food universe.
Alain Ducasse, Mario Carbone, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Masaharu Morimoto, José Andrés, Christina Tosi, Rainer Becker, Bryan and Michael Voltaggio, David Chang, and Michael Mina are each creating unique menus of signature dishes for the new Bellagio Fountain Club during the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on Nov. 16-18. The club, which sits immediately trackside along the main straight of the 3.8-mile F1 circuit, will provide expansive views during the race and will host the three podium finishers after the race for interviews and celebration.
Tickets, which are all-inclusive for the race’s duration, cost $11,247 per person.
Las Vegas is well-suited to such events. The hospitality and retail infrastructure already services hundreds of thousands of people on any given day. Many other F1 locations are located in areas removed from the cities touted as hosts. The Circuit of the Americas track used for the Austin Grand Prix, for instance, sits 20 miles from the Texas capital’s center; the Miami Grand Prix track is in Miami Gardens, Florida, 15 miles outside Miami. *(reference.)
Vegas Golden Knights capture its first Stanley Cup in 9-3 win over Florida Panthers in Game 5!
The Golden Knights delivered their city a true Vegas-style party from dazzling passes to Mark Stone’s hat trick to all-out goal celebrations, capturing the young organization’s first Stanley Cup with a 9-3 romp over the beaten up and exhausted Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.
Vegas closed out the series in five games to win the cup before a delirious franchise-record crowd of 19,058 at T-Mobile Arena that drowned out the pregame introductions of forward Jonathan Marchessault and goalie Adin Hill and cheered all the way through the final buzzer.
The Golden Knights have set the standard of what an expansion franchise should look like, making the Cup Final in their first season and the playoffs in every year but one. *(reference.)
Super Bowl LVIII! And here come the Athletics!
There’s much to keep track of: Allegiant Stadium, which now rises a block west of the Strip will host Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, 2024. The $1.9 billion stadium is home to the Raiders football team, snatched from Oakland, Calif., just four years ago.
On the other side of the Strip, the Tropicana Hotel will soon be replaced by a $1.5 billion, 30,000-seat baseball stadium to house the Athletics baseball team that Las Vegas is trying to snatch, again from Oakland. *(reference.)
And there you have it, make 24702 happen!🙌
Enjoy, and see you next time!
